Preschool Program

Our core preschool session hours are from 9:00am to 3:00pm, however our doors are open to families from 8:00am to 4:30pm.

Our extended opening hours reflect our rural location and the needs of our families and community.  Flexible drop off and pick up times allow families greater access and acknowledge individual family needs and circumstances.

Our preschool program is guided by the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) – Belonging, Being and Becoming; as part of the National Quality Framework (NQF).

The key learning outcomes as stated in the ELYF are:

  • Children have a strong sense of identity
  • Children are connected with and contribute to their world
  • Children have a strong sense of wellbeing
  • Children are confident and involved learners
  • Children are effective communicators

These outcomes are designed to capture the integrated and complex learning and development of all children across the birth to five age range.  The frameworks vision is for all children to experience play based learning that is engaging and builds success for life.

Our highly qualified and experienced educational team provide opportunities, environment, materials and support to guide children’s play, ideas and learning.  The program is enhanced by our indoor/ outdoor approach to learning and helps establish children’s individual decision making.  This approach supports children’s sense of agency and values their individual needs, interests, and wellbeing.

Our program is supported by the Reggio Emilia Approach and by the practices of Claire Warden and Nikki Buchan.  We provide a safe and secure environment where we encourage children to engage, challenge themselves and explore boundaries through risky play and inquisitive engagements.  As educators we guide children to be inspired and creative by our natural environment through hands-on investigations, fostering an understanding and respect of the interdependence between people, plants, animals, and the land.
